Sharing the Realities of a BIM Transformation: Stop. Disrupt. Evolve

Description:

Architecture in Canada is on the cusp of a radical reinvention, the heart of which surrounds the tools we use on a daily basis. Core methods are changing: clients demand it and practices are adopting it, but what are the consequences and benefits of this shift?

This is an honest, open look at BIM, based on our experience as Canada’s first CanBIM certified firm, and our adoption of the BIM process, particularly for use in the private sector. Participants will learn from our journey, our challenges and our successes, including the significant human resource, financial and business development issues caused by implementing new technology. We believe BIM is the way of the future, but it is naive to ignore how it affects operations and the requirements to transform a studio.

The content shared will open dialogue centered on how various types of practices can benefit from BIM. Case studies will illustrate critical subjects including business management, consultant and client onboarding, and education.
